The Juggle and the Drop

Its not always easy being healthy and staying active, life seems to continually get in the way of my goals and there are times when juggling it all seems nearly impossible. There are times when I falter, I stumble, and other times when I just completely drop the ball.

I don’t wake up every morning excited to count my macros, I don’t wake up every morning with super high energy, I don’t always “crush my workout”. Most days I hit the snooze, I roll my eyes at my tupperware, and I just get through my workouts. Being in school, especially being in my 5th year, has drained me of energy and left me anxious the majority of the time. It’s not easy to add in workouts 5-6 days a week, meal prep 3-4 times a week and saying no to killing that bottle of wine after a long week.

Through my journey I’ve learned a lot about myself. I’ve learned that I am resilient, that I am determined, and that even when it seems like all the odds are against me — I can get through it. I’ve sacrificed, and changed, a lot of my life to get to where I am today. I’ve given up my favourite foods, I’ve walked away from (negative) relationships, given up most alcohol, re-prioritzed my life. It doesn’t seem so awful when you look at it, and its not, I did all of these things for the betterment of my health and of my body. I’ve been injured, I’ve been pushed to the edge mentally, and emotionally, and it’s taught me a lot of life lessons.

By adopting a healthier lifestyle I have remained single for a long period of time, I have lost friends who were only there for me if it involved drinks, I’ve never felt more alone. And yet, I’ve never actually felt so at peace with myself. I’m kinder to my body, my mind, my spirit. I’m accepting of the fact that I am not perfect. I’ve never connected with so many people on such an intimate and emotional level, and I’ve never had such a big support system in place.

As you can see, its not always easy – If it were, everyone would be doing it. But I can tell you every time I look back in hindsight, it is 100% worth it.
